Grove Veteran’s Ritual Team

The Grove Veteran’s Ritual Team provides military honors for military veterans who have passed. They also perform flag-raising ceremonies and Honor Guard duties at dedications and other special events.

Performing military honors at a veteran’s funeral service includes a three-volley gun salute using M-1 military rifles (with blank cartridges), the playing of Taps, folding of the American flag, and presenting that flag to the next of kin. The honors can be performed at the cemetery, at the funeral home, or at the individual’s home. This service can also include a motorcycle escort from the funeral home to the grave site.  These services are performed at no cost but donations are appreciated when financially able to help cover the cost of fuel, ammunition, and equipment.

The ritual team performs flag-raising ceremonies at special events such as the dedication ceremony for the F-4 in Freedom Park and the opening of the Anchor at Shangri-la where a replica of an anchor from the USS Oklahoma was dedicated. They also perform Honor Guard duties at events where they request the ceremonial posting of the flag at the start of the meeting and removal of the flag at the end.

The Grove Ritual Team services can be arranged through the funeral home or directly with us by calling: Roger Cook at (918) 257-1134

You can also come by the American Legion at 114 S. Broadway any weekday morning between 8:00 a.m. and noon.
